Kraus Kitchen Faucet Review

Kraus Kitchen Faucet Review

Here at the Kitchen Door, we like to take a look at various brands, not only the top dogs like Moen and Kohler but also researching lesser known of manufacturers of faucets.

Never heard of Kraus? Well, this German sounding company is actually US based, founded in Washington Port, New York.

If you’re afraid to go out on a limb and try a brand which is not as well-known, then we’re on the same page.

Initially, we were also skeptical,  but after reading numerous customer reports and Amazon reviews, we realized that they stack up well against the trusted brands- and the majority of the time at a fraction of the purchase price.

Take a look at our findings below, and possibly you’ll end up remodeling your kitchen with a classy and affordable new Kraus faucet.

1. KRAUS KPF-2250 SINGLE LEVER PULL-OUT FAUCET

This faucet comes with a clearance which lets you fill up reasonably large pots without the bulky height of a high arc faucet.

Features:

  • check
    Single Lever Style
  • check
    120 Degree Swivel
  • check
    Double Function Pull-Out Sprayer
  • check
    Adaptive Smooth-Retract Hose with Counterweight
  • check
    Solid Brass Construction

Pros:

For the ones that want the sleek lines of a high arc faucet without having a tall giraffe neck peering over your basin, this might be the solution.

The KPF-2250 has a clearance which permits pots to fit under easily,  yet does not tower over the sink taking up space. The faucet features a design that can fit into just about any kitchen and includes a lightweight plastic sprayer that’s easy to maneuver. Although vinyl, it blends in well with the stainless steel base and is similar to rival pull out faucets. It’s rather simple to install and includes almost all of the parts required to fit in your current space, even extra holes, so it matches with a variety of sinks.

At a cost that doesn’t break the bank, this faucet is a steal.

Cons:

One thing that we came across exploring this faucet is you are not able to screw on aftermarket attachments. For those who have a ‘portable dishwasher’ or a water filter, you will likely want to search for a more accessory-friendly faucet.

Some reviewers on Amazon reported that they needed to purchase extra hoses to put in this faucet. These tubes are available on Amazon for $20-$30, and would most likely have to be made for any new plumbing.

Others reported that they require a unique tool for installation due to the space under their sinks.

I would suggest looking carefully at your current setup when contemplating to purchase this faucet. However, others reported leaks and breaks in the pull out the hose and that the plastic pulls out a part doesn’t sit correctly on the stainless steel base. Sometimes, this was easily remedied and might have been a problem with installation, but others had to purchase a replacement from Kraus.

2. KRAUS KPF-1612 SINGLE LEVER PULL-DOWN KITCHEN FAUCET

The Kraus KFP1602 is slightly larger than its KPF-1612 counterpart; this industrial style faucet also offers a convenient pot filler spout. For industrial performance durability and strength, the KPF-1602 is the best way to go.

Features:

  • check
    3- Function Sprayer
  • check
    180-degree Swivel
  • check
    Kerox Ceramic Cartridge
  • check
    Commercial Style Spring Design
  • check
    High Performance/Low Flow Neopearl Aerator
  • check
    LiteTouch Single Lever Flow Control

Pros:

The faucet itself is easy to wash, and we liked the addition of a rubber aerator that prevents hard water buildup. This heavy-duty tap is also simple to install and can be set up for left or right-handed operation.

The KPF-1612 is a heavy-duty faucet that won’t ruin the aesthetics of your kitchen. Its hybrid styling should fit into various modern and industrious kitchen designs.

Cons:

This design isn’t for everyone, and we have found that for the most part buyers steer clear of industrial faucets. However, for those of you who are in the market for a quality industrial faucet at a reasonable price, I prefer the 1612’s design to the rather unsightly 1602 which we review later.

Who is this faucet for?

For those of you looking for performance. If you have ever worked in a restaurant, then you understand the advantages of a faucet with industrial design.

3. KRAUS KPF-1602 SINGLE HANDLE PULL-DOWN FAUCET

The Kraus KFP1602 is slightly larger than its KPF-1612 counterpart; this industrial style faucet also offers a convenient pot filler spout. For industrial performance durability and strength, the KPF-1602 is the best way to go.

4. KRAUS KPF-2160 SINGLE LEVER STAINLESS STEEL FAUCET

A high arc faucet with a sleek design, this faucet prides itself on being an easy and straightforward faucet that’s rust and rust resistant, which makes it suitable for outdoor use. Let see if it stacks up favorably against the competition.

Features:

  • check
Acceptable for Indoor and Outdoor Use
  • check
Solid Stainless Steel Construction (T-304 Steel)
  • check
    Single Lever Controls
  • check
    Neopearl Aerator
  • check
    CeramTec Ceramic Cartridge

Pros:

A simply designed faucet, the KPF 2160 is made entirely of durable stainless steel. What this means for you is that you get a durable and dependable faucet that won’t crack. Fewer hoses and connections equate in less likelihood of leaks and weak spots. For the cost and considering this faucet is made up of 100% percent stainless steel, I consider this as one of Kraus’ most competitively priced faucets.

For those who have a pull-out or pull-down faucet and it’s been nothing but a hassle for you, consider returning to the basics of this particular model. Moreover, for those who have an outside kitchen and do not wish to spend a fortune on specialty components, then the KPF-2160 may be an attractive solution. This holds for not only outdoor kitchens, but its durability and stainless finish also contribute nicely to garage sinks, garden sinks and the like.

Cons:

When exploring this faucet, we had to look past the shiny surface to discover its flaws! Most customers were thrilled with this version and had just five-star rave reviews to supply.

However, since we at The Kitchen Door specialize in nitpicking, we dug deep and found a couple of reports of problems. On Amazon, a customer noted that the hoses were too short for their sink and another reported that they were having difficulty installing their water filter on the faucet.

Another report said that the faucet handle was getting stuck.

As I said, reports of issues for this faucet were few and far between. Additionally, as previously mentioned, Kraus is exceptionally efficient at replacing parts if needed. In general, we at The Kitchen Door believe that this is one of the best value for money faucets currently on the market.

Round-Up

Kraus brings affordability and quality to the kitchen faucet marketplace, and we feel comfortable giving the four faucets reviewed above our Kitchen Door seal of approval. Although there are some units which don’t stack up to the competition, the faucets in this review are the ones which we believe give you the best value for your money, and that seems to be market Kraus is targetting.

The price aware, but still concerning buyer.
